When planning a day on the water charter fishing with the family it is important to choose the right Captain! As a father of two young children, Capt. Alvin understands the significance of family bonding and the importance of creating lasting memories between parents and their kids. Capt. Alvin’s outgoing personality, desire to teach and ability to listen and guide will ensure that you and the family have a great time!
Our 3 or 4 Hour Family fishing trips are an excellent way to introduce your kids to fishing and experience the excitement of catching a wide variety of Caribbean fish species.
All ages are welcome, from young ones to teens.
The experience begins with Capt. Alvin creating an environment of teaching, encouragement, excitement and most importantly, plenty of fish! Family fishing trips feature Caribbean inshore species such as Barracuda, Kingfish, Bonito, Yellowtail Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, Tarpon, and various Jacks species. The fishing primarily takes place over reefs, wrecks and within the cays and lagoons along the island’s coastline, providing a unique “on the water” perspective of St. Thomas’ beauty. Capt. Alvin utilizes live-bait fishing techniques on almost all inshore fishing trips, giving kids the opportunity to scoop their own bait from the livewell and learn the fundamentals of baiting the hook and letting line out from the reel, and then….the best part…..feeling the tug and bend in the rod!
For more experienced youngsters or teens, consider our 6 hour inshore trips and target larger Barracuda and Kingfish species.
Safety is of the utmost importance to Capt. Alvin so we provide a full assortment of kid’s life preservers to ensure a proper fit. Adult life preservers are also available for teens.
Many of the Caribbean fish caught on our Inshore charters are delectable table fair. Consider a morning/afternoon Inshore charter and lunch/dinner at Hook Line & Sinker Restaurant, just steps from our slip at CYOA Marina, which will cook up your fresh catch! Many guests find this is a great way to compliment their trip with Capt. Alvin, re-living the excitement, looking at pictures and having your catch prepared in Hook Line’s island-renown Caribbean style.
