Greetings from sunny St. Thomas, USVI! We’ve had a great start to the 2024 fishing season. Both our offshore and inshore fishery produced some quality bites over the past two months. We caught some of our largest Wahoo of the year in January but the Wahoo bite tapered off as we entered February. We’ve received reports of a larger class of Mahi’s being caught to the north of the island and an influx of smaller Mahis and Blackfin Tunas along the South Drop have been producing consistent bites.
The inshore bite has been fair to good overall with Yellowtail Snappers, Mutton Snappers, Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel biting consistently. We had a few trips at the end of February that were very hit or miss due to a lack of live bait. The bait started to thin out along the south forcing most of the fish to disperse and go on the move. Reef hopping to the east and west of the island has proved successful, but it was difficult to find consistent action with such few fish holding over a particular area. We’ve fished the northside of the island as of late and have a couple locations producing Kingfish with consistency.
We hope you’ll get out on the water with us if you’re planning a visit to St. Thomas or St. John! *Our April/May/June offshore dates are filling up quickly so be sure to reach out to us if you’re looking to get in on the upcoming Yellowfin and Mahi run in the next couple of months!
