The Mahi and Wahoo action this month has been nothing short of spectacular!
In two early trips this month we picked up 17 on the first trip and 18 Wahoo on the second in the 30-50lb range. Not only are these fish showing up in solid numbers, the average size has been bigger than in previous seasons. We landed a monster 55lb Bull Mahi to kick of the month right, and just a week after a 52lb Wahoo hit the deck. Our offshore charters have been consistently filled with 20-30lb mahi and wahoo, and our inshore charters are finding some nice size Kingfish/Barracuda and plenty of Yellowtail action on light tackle.
The Yellowfin scene has been slow as of yet. Sometimes these fish show up early, and sometimes late in the winter season. It’s looking like it may start later than normal but we’re confident these big tuna will arrive in our waters any day now. Check out our Facebook page for the latest trip pictures and reports!
If you’re headed to St. Thomas over the winter season give us a call and get in on the inshore/offshore fishing action!
